All About the Chaos

Updated: Feb 13

Do you have ideas or recurring thoughts swirling around in your head? This may seem obvious but, have you written them down? Ideas seem to be intangible and don't become goals until you write them down clearly (or even illegibly for that matter). It's a power of attraction kind of thing. It really works! Not sure how to get started? If you want to bump that writer's block, do a brain dump.

The first step is to stop thinking. Or better yet, the moment you realize that you're thinking about your desires, acknowledge yourself in your desire. In order to fulfill your desire, recognize it, write it down and create a goal around it.

By putting it all down on paper, you've completed the first step of aligning the #lawofattraction with your goals. You will begin to see reoccurring signs happening all around you that seem to affirm your ideas and desires. You might receive an email newsletter from one of your favourite experts that speaks in total alignment with your heart. Allow those visions to inspire your mind and confidence.

A successful #braindump helps develop an idea and find where your heart lies.

While pouring over a topic in my head for days, the best signs come when I allow my mind a break. During a restful sunny day, gazing at the clouds, or while focused on breathing and listening to the soothing sounds of music in #432Hz, I catch the concept and ideas flow.

Brain Dump: Priming Your Mind

Clear out your impeccable white office space, brew a RADIANT herbal tea and gather writing tools.

But first, daydream with me for a minute. Can you feel the sense of calm emitting from the office picture above? What does this airy, flowy office space invoke for you? Take yourself there for a moment. Allow yourself to clear out your cluttered mental space and imagine this impeccable white office space. Relish in the peace you are experiencing.

When you are ready, picture yourself fully engaged, already connecting your thoughts to the page by writing your responses down. You are exhilarated by the rush of mind power overflowing on to the paper. You continue until your mind is exhausted of thought. You have taken yourself to the end of your writing session. Admire all you have accomplished. This fresh start and visualization of the end gives you the confidence and the discipline to pursue a great idea and the plan to bring it to fruition. Take a few deep breaths so we can come back to the real reason you’re here - steps to planning your urban market garden business.

Brain Dump: Letting it Flow

Take a few deep breaths and rest your pencil on the page. At this stage, I save the typing for later. Utensil to paper, whether lead or ink, just feels authentic and it might give your fingers more time to catch up with your brain.

For the next best thing and a really healthy digital alternative, check out the #reMarkable2 paper tablet. It is immensely pleasurable to read and use. There is no backlighting and no distractions. It has helped me to stay focused and write more content. It saves paper, energy and time. The brilliant “convert to text and send” function types up your notes for you. If you have writing as illegible as mine, the computer editing process might have some funny autocorrects, but as an added bonus, I’m learning to improve my penmanship!

In other words, write down everything that comes to mind for 5 or 10 minutes and I mean everything. Turn your distractions off for a while and sit with your self. Every word and every gut feeling, write it down. At this point, it doesn’t matter what comes out, this is just the beginning. The editing process is where you narrow down your goals, but for now it’s all about the chaos. You’re preparing the ground for #creativevisualization.

Don't judge your dumps (ew), dumpings (still ew), verbal diarrhea (um). Ok forget it.

If you think it, write it. Go with your gut and all that. (ha ha)

Seriously, your mind will wander and you will wonder why you're thinking of Matt Damon's smile when you are supposed to be thinking of garden design. Just write it down. Maybe your subconscious knows something about Matt Damon's smile that the conscious doesn’t.

I have the tendency to continue brain-storming for time on end, so, if you are like me, it might be helpful to set an alarm!
