Business Plan - Get Started

Updated: Feb 13

You are now entering the brain storming process. Prepare for a little hard work and a lot of discovery. Over the course of our How-To series "Business Plan" you will learn how to create a Business Plan for your homestead. Put together from brain storm and visualization to rough draft and final copy. Do you believe this can all be achieved stress-free with confidence? Read on...

This process will take you through a list of things to think about. A way to flesh out your plan, get started and make real progress. When great ideas flow, allow the creative visualization to soar. Not only will you dream and make goals, but really flesh out a plan that will take your business plan to the next level.

Take a look at each area of your business and you will be able to answer the following questions:

Vision

What will your business accomplish? How will you inspire others to unite and move towards a shared purpose?

Mission

Why do it? Why does your vision matter?

Objective

What are you going to do? What are you going to create?

Strategy

How will you do it?

Contingency

What if?

Financing

Where will the money come from?

Partnering

Who do you work well with? What is their level of interest?

Marketing

How will you market yourself? What do you want your business to look like?

With your answers to these questions, your vision statement, mission and ultimately the core and culture of your business will become clear. You and your partners will be encouraged to turn your business and personal goals into a reality.

Hints

If you're looking for something to keep you motivated and assist in your everyday tasks, the #reMarkable 2 is really easy on the eyes and allows you to automatically convert your notes to text and finish your editing on the computer.

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”

Maya Angelou

Self-Employed?

Homesteading may not be your thing. This business plan process can be applied to any idea you might want to develop. At Hawkeye Hill, we are pursing this journey from zero to homestead. A homestead that remains successful in community and gives us the ability to make a living for our family. To create a product and service that remains true to the Creator, Mother Nature and all of you. It's a long road and not everything comes naturally. We have learned a couple of things along the hard way and want to share our experiences with you. We hope that you will enter into discussion with us and offer up your struggles and celebrations. That we might mutually benefit from one another's stories and encounters, mistakes and failings.
