Take 3 deep breaths and relax your shoulders each time. Allow your mind and body a break, release the tension, unclench your jaw and breathe. Close your eyes and focus on the spot in the middle of your inner forehead. Is it a colour or a shape? Allow the #vision to fill up your mind space. Spend a few minutes connecting to your breath and relax every part of your body. Be grateful to the Creator and quiet your mind, always returning to breath.
Now you’re ready for a little #creativevisualization. A thought experiment.
Objective: To cultivate a thought palace that you can visit in your mind that induces relaxation and increases motivation and creativity.
Creative Visualization Experiment
Close your eyes and breathe in the scent of nectar in the air. Imagine that you are walking through the garden on warm soil. You notice how the rose bushes clamber for sun, the tomato rainbow hangs on the vine and the pear buds decorate trees in the distance. A gust of wind and the willow tree in the middle of the field beckons and you run, run to the wisps hanging so low you can’t see the trunk inside. You can’t resist creeping through to sit propped with a book and a journal. A secret garden so full of life, goodness and happiness.
There’s a soundtrack in the air. Your music of choice is at the perfect volume and you hear sweet laughter on the breeze. Thank the heavens for such a vision of Eden. Celebrate this feeling of joy and relaxation.
Results: Linger here to bring your heart rate down and shower your cells with beneficial neurochemicals like dopamine and norepinephrine.
Benefits: When you’re deep in your mind palace, answers pop-up to questions that have been rolling around in your thoughts.
Insights: When the weeds come, as they inevitable do, pluck at them and discard them, envision pulling up roots every time.
Conclusion: Your version of a good time might be a little different than mine. This is your thought experiment. Take some time to create your own version. Ask yourself what is something that makes you truly happy? Imagine it. Where do you feel at peace?
Challenge: What do you do to keep stress at bay and keep a positive attitude? If you’re willing, share your safe place with us.
Visualize your version of the garden of Eden in your mind’s eye and keep turning back to it. Let us know what that looks like for you.
